Nancy Wilson is a Grammy Award winning jazz singer. She was born the 20th of February, 1937 in the city of Chillicothe, Ohio to Olden Wilson, who was employed at an ironworks and Lillian Ryan, a former domestic employee. Nancy Wilson was the only baby of six. Her father was a fan of music and loved to play records in the family. It had a huge influence on her as a child. As part of the group, Nancy released her first record on Dot Records. Cannonball Aderley suggested that she relocate into New York so as to increase her chances of success. In 1959 Nancy made the move in The Big Town. The agent of Adderley heard about her in The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she signed. Within one month after her arrival to New York, she was in the city. It was a contract with Capitol Records in the year 1960. In 1960, she made her debut with. Guess who saw today. Capitol released five Nancy Wilson records in just two years. Adderley influenced her to move away from R&B and to focus on the torch and jazz genres. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley's collaboration in 1962 helped to propel her into the spotlight as well as her hit Tell Me the Truth was made available in the year 1963.
